Slain Va. Tech officer identified as Army veteran
9:04 PM, Dec 8, 2011

"In light of the turmoil and trauma and the tragedy suffered by this campus by guns, I can only say words don't describe our feelings and they're elusive at this point in time," university president Charles Steger said. "Our hearts are broken again for the family of our police officer.".

Guns are the criminals here, not the killers. Ugh.

RIP VA Officer.

.

I did notice today, during the news conference that one of the reporters ( from a Korean media, I beleive ), asked if Virginia would now tighten gun laws seeing they are so loose, ect. The Tech police told him to address Va Government.

I heard that and thought
what an idiot, really, that's it,
guns are the problem, then I'm all for it, starting with the cops.

If only I had known of my firearms' anthropomorphic qualities before purchasing them. To their credit though, my Glocks have never soiled my carpet.

I still have a vivid memory of a TV interview with our local university spokesman after the first VT shooting, and he led off his answer by reasuring us that our university doesn't allow guns on campus. To this day I wonder whether he knew how stupid he sounded.

From ecureed's link-

Chief Flinchum told reporters that to the best of his knowledge, no one intervened during the attack, and there were approximately seven witnesses.

Disgusting.

At least this wasn't caused by a dog. You can have my Yorkie when you pry her from my cold, dead hands.

Legal Purchase

I've read several articles on the fatal shooting/suicide at VT a couple of days ago and a couple of things caught my attention.

1. They named the weapon as an HK .40cal. Why does the media feel the need to be specific as to brand name? Did HK do something wrong or make this an even more horrific event?

2. It was determined that the gun had been purchased a year ago legally. What about that statement is cause for more gun laws? Not once did they suggest that it wasn't an issue of gun laws and instead an issue of an insane act by one person. So far as I know there is no gun law that will prevent the actions of a lone person with insane thoughts. I say insane here because I don't believe the actions of this individual would be carried out by a sane person.

I just love how folks use their First Amendment Rights to attack our Second Amendment Rights. They are lucky we don't turn the tables.
