We went shooting this last Sunday. I took my old Remmington Nylon 66 that I learned to shoot with and let my son fire that, it was what I hope will be the start of a long and treasured tradition in our family.

What surprised my wife was how well the boy (he's 11) did firing my .40 cal S&W.:what:

He was almost scary. Up until then the only pistol he had ever shot was an airsoft. He didn't hit his target every time, (we were shooting cans at 11 paces - about 35 feet), but he was close enough with every round to make the can jump even when he missed.

Did the same with her Bursa .380 too.;)

His concentration was great when he had the guns in hands, and he had clear focus and followed his targets well when he hit them and they went flying. He tracked the cans, quickly recovered his aim, and then hit them for a second round. He was really good about not anticipating the noise and kick, (of course he was also wearing ear plugs with muffs over them).

Yep the boy naturally runs a double tap drill with a pistol.

He was safety conscious and never once had to be stopped from sweeping the range. The boy did his daddy proud.:D

I just wish my camera hadn't gotten broken a while back. Bought the guns instead of replacing it.

My eleven year old so far shoots like me. Lets just say the broad sides of barns are safe when we start throwing lead. He is not shy about recoil though. Hottest round I have is 357 magnum out of a heavy ruger vaquero and he is like reload dad.

You kid might just have the right stuff. I think the unofficial fastest stage shot in cowboy action was done by a fourteen year old.

Congrats! You must be very proud of him. I am and I don't even know you or your family except through this board!

Sincerely,

Catherine
