Once fired military ammo?

Anybody know how the ammo is? Good for reloading? Is it more beat up? I do know the 249s beat up the brass a little more than civilian rifles. Talk to me.

i've used it with good results... i bought the brass already processed graded, and primer crimp removed... just have to make sure you bump that shoulder back enough to use it in the AR though.... most people say to use small base dies, but i didn't have any problems with full length dies...

I use military (Lake City) brass for reloading 30-06 and 5.56.

Just remember to use 10% less powder because the shells are thicker.

Milsurp brass is the best there is.

It's my understanding that a lot of High Power shooters use Lake City brass. I've used some myself with good results.

Milsurp brass is usually good stuff. Lake City is very nice. In fact, Black hills uses LC brass for their remanufactured ammo.

If you are interested in reusing .308 brass, make sure you check to see if it isn't Berdan primed. It sucks to have a nice pile of beautiful brass only to find out it isn't boxer primed. I had a bunch of Port Surplus that was that way. Absolutely beautiful brass....but Berdan primed.

You have to look into the case. Boxer primed will have the normal single primer hole. Berdan primed will have two holes.

Cabela's sells once fired brass on the cheap, deprimed and primer pocket swaged, 90% Lake City and 10% winnie military brass. Lake City is realy good brass, thats about all I use in my .223s anymore.

A lot of the .308 milsurp brass on the market was fired in M60 machine guns. The shoulders may be off and the cases may be stretched with a thin "ring" at the case head, just ahead of the extractor groove. Check the cases carefully before using them.

"Most" LC Match cases were probably fired in M14 match rifles, so they're probably OK, but again, check them over carefully.
