Hey reloaders
Getting ready to load up some .308 have about 1000 Winchester headstamp cases got from two different sellers both were large lots of once fired all looks once but both lots the winchester looks once fired except for a ring above the head I have a tool for checking the inside the case and all feel good but that ring is a lil troublesom looking. Both lots had several headstamp and all other cases were once fired.
Has anybody seen this am I getting sideways over nothing?
thanx

A picture would help but I think you're describing the area by the case web where the area above it has expanded more than the area between the case web and the extractor rim. If so that's common and not a worry. Is it truly a ring or is the entire case wall above the web area slightly enlarged? Generally this is from firing in a weapon with a slightly larger chamber such as military machine guns.

Have they been de-primed. If so, is it ring markings from a fl sizing die? or actual ring formed in the brass? It could very well be just from the type of gun they was fired from. (i.e. machine gun with over sized chamber ) Pic would help a lot.
