I don't care what machines they have, constitution says 'innocent until proven guilty' If you catch them before they do crime X, they are still innocent.

Any attempt to change such a fundamental aspect of the Constitution and the American Justice System would result in a 'flight or fight' response.

Yes..... And they won't infringe on the 2nd either......

This is not something to worry about. The capability is here now and it is being used now. But the countermeasure is available now too. It is readily available and costs under $10.

Just be sure to wear it at any time when you want to be able to think without your thoughts being monitored. Then twirl the propellor just before you start to think and don't let it stop until you have finished thinking. The propellor interrupts the thought wave transmission and, also, cools the brain.

Try not to think too much. The agency can't monitor what isn't there to be monitored. It should not create much of a problem for many people. You can have it personalized too. No one will know you own a gun.

You'll forgive me for saying so, but I'm not quite as confident in the effectiveness of existing countermeasures in defeating the government's technology. I recently witnessed a fellow air traveler attempt to deploy a similar countermeasure... it didn't work for sh**. TSA's brain scanner snapped on him instantaneously.

Problem isn't opening that doorway, man. Problem is, shutting it after it's been opened. You can read my mind if you want to. You won't like what you find. And I won't care. Neither will the millions of others. Oh well. That's what they make thorazine for, right?

There are a lot more pressing threats to your freedom than brain scanning mind readers in the airport. By the time this technology can be used for what you are worrying about, it will be the least of your problems.

More likely it will only work once your brain can be removed and placed in a dome-shaped receptacle with lots of tubes, wires, and flashing lights attached.

Seriously, they can't really read your mind in any meaningful way with a brain scan and probably never will. There is no specific place where a given memory or type of thought can be pulled off a shelf and examined. It's like B.F. Skinner thinking that once we understood the principles of operant conditioning you could raise a child in a box and shape it into any kind of person you want. It's a fantasy.

The quote from the guy from Stanford was expressing concern that the technology could be misused. He was not gloating about how he wanted to read peoples minds with brain scanners and nobody is going to be able to stop him.

All I'll say is that they'd be advised not to have any really cute blond scientists in my view when they do the scan, because there will only be one thing on my mind.

I hate it when IP companies use IP laws to surpress advancements in technology. People should not use any excuse of a law to try and surpress technological development. It's people who are bad, not technology. This is a rather large step forward in understanding human neurology if the tests are successful, but why the pessimism here?

He didn't read the instructions. You have to propel it really, really fast--fast enough to make your head spin.

Trust me on this. Nobody has been able to detect a thought in my brain for years.

Hmmm... perhaps I was too hasty in my assessment. Come to think of it, one of my neighbors has been wearing a countermeasure for some time now. It's actually hard to tell he has a brain at all.
