for the first time today with the wife and I. Started him out on the Mark I 22lr, then had him fire my 38, and then my own loads on the 357 since I don't load 'em up to full power. He had a fun day. I'm going to have to spend a few hours reloading tomorrow.

He's 29. I didn't have guns in the house growing up because my wife didn't like guns. Took me 30+ years to change her mind. He's been shooting with my dad before, but this was the first time with me and the wife. He's been talking about getting a gun, I figured it was best if he went shooting with me a few times first.

Shooting and reloading and range time is great time spent together. I'm glad for all three that your wife has "come around" with her acceptance of firearms. She may never develop a great interest, (my wife never has), but at least she is moving the good direction.

Good for your son in that he is getting some range time before he jumps into the gun purchase mode. Though I'm sure he has an idea of the direction he wants the first of his collection to go...it'll help. Range time always helps.

Fun times!

Mark

My wife has really turned around, we go to the range every two weeks now. She has a Ruger LC9 9mm and a Mark I 22lr. Though I'm stuck with cleaning all the guns. I grew up with guns in the house, heck, guys would have their shotguns in the back of their pickups at school. And in the military I had to qualify every year.

I'm in the same boat when it comes to cleaning the guns; I do all of them. The wife has zero interest in cleaning them (though I've shown her how, and she has helped in the past). I consider it a small price to pay.

LOL! Wives and cleaning guns seems to be one of those things that falls under the "gender division of labor."

Taking my kids shooting were some of the best times I ever spent with them. I don't mind paying for everything and having to clean the guns afterwards; as long as everyone had fun it's always worth it.

Very cool, gonoles 1980.

My first wife hated guns when we married in the mid-80's. It took a couple years to get her to go to the range with me, but when she finally did, she loved it. I have no idea how much she shoots these days, but I know she's still an NRA member, and a vocal one at that.

My new wife loves shooting, and has her own enviable (if small) gun collection. Her oldest son also loves shooting, and comes by the farm to shoot with us on occasion. Her youngest, though, is still a bit scary. He doesn't yet take it seriously enough when he has a firearm in his hands. We still have some work to do with him. He seems to like it, too, though.
