Revolver for me. Although the overwhelming majority are S&W, There are a few Rugers and several NAAs but I could probably squeeze in a Colt or two.
I have several autos but if I had to give up one class or the other it would be them.

If you could only have one platform revolver or semiautomatic what would it be? Please take it one step further with a brand of firearms.
This is for fun! Its not about limiting yourself to one or two handguns it's about choice. If you want every model of Glock great! Or every model of Colt revolvers

If you want ever configuration of a model thats fine too!
I'd be inclined toward semiauto. Anything a revolver can do that needs doing can be done by a semiauto and semiautos can do more.

Since you did not list any stipulations, I will assume you intend it for all purposes, hunting home defense and personal defense when out and about.
I love N frame Smiths and especially an N frame that has a 4 as the first digit in the caliber.
That would drive me to a 6" model 57 in 41 mag. As a handloader it can go mild to enough to take down any animal in the lower 48.
However, non-hunting with today environment of multiple attackers in a bad situation I want a few more rounds than 6.
That drives me to a Glock model 20. Can be carried with 10 rounds for "those" states or 15 in regular states. 16 rounds of 180 or 200 grain slugs on tap has a certain appeal. Throw a light on it for home defense if weapon mounted light is your thing and you are set. Take it off for CCW and hunting.

When I started this thread I felt the voting would end up above 60% in favor of semiautomatics. This primarily because of capacity in sefl defense. As I post this comment the voting is 55% auto loaders 45% revolvers.

First of all I like both platforms.

My answer is S&W Revolvers.
With J, K, L, N, and X frame handguns to choose from and the variety of cartridges. This is why I voted for revolvers Because of versatility .

I could have easily said semiautomatics and Glock. If I had a G42, G23, G30, and G20 my bases would be covered. (Note: I deliberately left out the wonder 9 )

Please remember that the thread was for fun. There was no right or wrong answer as it is opinion. Many good points and the day may come sooner than later that I will vote for the semiautomatic....
Heck I'm considering adding a G29 to compliment my G20. But I keep looking at 1911s:eek:
You can do a lot worse than a 29 or 1911 in the same caliber. I find I am more accurate with a 1911 than my Glocks but not enough so to part with the Glocks.
