One size shot

If you could only have one size shot for a 12 gauge, what would it be? 000, BB, #4, other? And why?

The famous shotgun guru, Jack O'Connor, in his "Shotgun Book" stated that if he could have only one size shot it would lay between 6s and 7 1/2s. In fact, those are the only two sizes of shot that I have in my house because they cover pertnear everything except waterfowl.

For the 12, it have to be 5s. 6s for the 16 and 7-1/2s for the 20.

#6. #5 is a great size in the 12 ga, but sixes will work on just about everything from doves to ducks.

Although I would hope I never have to make such a decision.

....... does not compute. They make several sizes, so I use several sizes. If they did away with buckshot or slugs it wouldn't impact me.

if i had to choose one.. i'd be in trouble. I have a 5 gallon bucket in my basement filled with 4 - 9 shot.

+1 on the 5s !! it will take just about anything.

If waterfowl only: LEAD #4s (used to take any waterfowl before steel was mandated)-if nontoxic, then heavishot.
If upland only: #6 copperplated will kill any upland game.
