7.62 Nato , I have many but guess this would be last sporting one to go. Harry Lawson highly modified 600 Remington 20" , Now has a lower mounted
Zeiss Conquest HD5 2-10X42 - RZ600 and it shoots less than MOA with Federal Gold Match 162 load that is what I sight all .308s with and note corrections for other loads as needed .

The reason I put that EGW aluminum Pic rail on is that it has far more room to service the magazine, which is a blind 5 rounder. Also unhindered ejection port and with that action I can throw one up the spout if empty.
So I mounted the Zeiss HD5 2-10x42 with Z600 in some slim profile permanent aluminum "tactical rings" from Hawkins https://www.milehighshooting.com/ha...ings-30mm-1-0-medium-scope-ring-set-901-0002/
Now the rear turret barely is off the Pic rail and appear Bomb proof and I don't require QD on this gun as the scope will never hopefully be removed. I keep a Scope Coat on the scope :)

This gun hangs at my side like an M4 16" carbine with stock to my 13" preferred length :) I can almost hold it out like a pistol and could , sigh, a few years ago ....

Of the options, .308 although it's useless for hunting anything where I live. No bears, no hogs, and illegal for deer. I do already own one that never gets shot. No reason to switch to a different caliber that never gets used either.
Chips? Really? There are too many good options depending on the theme. Nacho cheese Doritos on top of a taco salad or Fritos/Tostitos scoops with some homemade mesquite smoked tomato/pepper/onion salsa.

Own rifles in all 3 calibers----but the .270 is my favorite and has been for about 30 years----current rifle in that chambering is a Browning X bolt Composite Stalker topped with a Zeiss 3x9x36

Ain't gonna happen..........EVER!. This thread pops up on gun forums regularly. Wasted space.

Some folks, while they may own many firearms, choose to hunt big game with “only” one cartridge!

Grancel Fitz was one of those people! His firearm of choice.....the 30-06 Springfield! While there are many cartridges to choose from .....many can be chosen for the “one cartridge hunter”! Here’s a brief story about Grancel Fitz, his book, and his accomplishments!

Grancel Fitz was a proponent of the “one gun for all big game” philosophy. His choice of an all around hunting caliber was the .30-06 Springfield, which of course is a most versatile and effective cartridge.

It certainly worked for him…
