Yesterday, Rob Balin was subbing for Jeff Ward on Austin's afternoon talk radio program. He was ranting about Open Carry, being especially bigoted in his description of gun-owners and gun-carriers as "Cowboys", "Nuts", etc, the usual epithets. He kept saying that open carry made him uncomfortable. He mentioned his "comfort zone" several times.
I called, and got on the air, and mentioned that I have been a CHL holder for over a year now, and in that time I have not dropped my pistol causing it to fire, nor have I been overcome by the eeeeevil mind control rays coming from my gun and gone on a mad rampage.
He replied that he wasn't implying that guns make people go crazy, to which I responded, "Then what about me carrying a gun makes you uncomfortable?"
Rob: "Uh, um, well, okay, um..."
Oh, logic. Sweet, sweet logic.
He went on to spin some scenario in which an OCer walks into the store, and "I don't know what he's about to do and I might be in a bad situation". Yeah, but how is that different from EVERY OTHER DAY OF YOUR LIFE?
It was a good show in that it got people fired up and calling in, but in a lot of ways he was just trolling the AM radio instead of the net.
