To carry is an "anti-social behavior"? Good grief.

    I went

and I got to meet Shane Bachelder, the organizer of the event. Real good kid who, as it happens, is a good friend of my daughter. They are both students at USM. While I personally prefer to carry concealed, I went to show my support. It was a great day and the people were pretty friendly. Some of the opposition were very vocal and it seemed like they got more of the news coverage. The reporting on the event seemed pretty evenhanded, all in all. One reporter even pointed out that there were many more pro gun people than there were anti-gun demonstrators. There were probably 80-100 gun owners at a given time.

On a personal note, and I know all will not agree, I was glad not to see any long guns slung across peoples shoulders. I also did not see anyone wearing BDUs either. I think when you put on something like this you should put your best face forward. You don't want a bunch of guys looking like they just stepped of the set of Deliverance. If had not been to an IDPA match in the morning I would have been wearing "church clothes". All in all it lookedlike a very succesful event. If anyone in the area is interested, they will be having a couple more events in the coming months. You can read about them on www.opencarry.org. As far as Iknow there are no dates set as of now.
