I live in Wisconsin, a state which doesn't allow CCW.:fire: For those of you who do open carry, what rig do you use and why? Please don't flame me for open carry, it's the only option I have at this point until I can move.

"Open carry" where (e.g, to the corner store, or out hiking or on an atv)? And what gun? We could give lots of opinions, but many of them may not be relevant to you.

Blackhawk CQC Serpa holster.

i use mine with the paddle attachment for classes because it allows infinate placement on the belt, angle adjustment, retention that is easily released and it isn't too expensive. mine works with both railed and non-railed Sigs

Just a question for those that open carry, I've been wondering... How do you OC in the winter, when it's cold, and you need a heavy coat? Just wondering how you'd do it.

It would mostly be for around town. I live in a small town of 3,000, so while I dont NEED to carry a gun, it would make me feel just a bit safer. Thanks to all who have provided some input. There's so much info out there that it's hard to find a starting point.

This is Wisconsin, where people will sometimes get arrested for open carry and charged with some crime, even though it's not illegal. I'd use a subcompact and carry a cell phone and light so it's not easily noticed. The cell phone and firearm should be carried in similiar looking holsters.

I've already informed the chief of police here that I was planning on OC he had no problem with it. I'm also willing to risk getting arrested in defense of the 2nd amendment. Now I just have to narrow down my choices and get to it.

Statements like this make my brain fry.

I'll (almost) leave it at that, and as one who is becoming a cop, I'll say press charges, prosecute, and sue 'em for everything you can. It's EXPECTED of you.

I'm sorry you have to come to that. If I were you I'd decide if a retention holster is something you want, and if so, what type of retention. That'll narrow things down a great deal. Also, do you already have the gun chosen, or are you looking for that too?

Open carry I always carry my revolver crossdraw, western style gunbelt with cartridge loops (I'm usually hunting when wearing this). Autos I'll wear strongside and Hi-ride, they stay out of the way better there..
