I recently ordered one of these for my son. I've never actually met one up close.

Does anyone else have one of these?

Like the Opinel, it's made in France. Like the Opinel, its blade is carbon steel. Like the Opinel, it's reasonably priced. Like the Opinel, it has no springs, and is essentially a "peasant knife." Unlike the Opinel, it doesn't have a lock per se.

It's an intriguing knife, and it's on my "must buy" list.

Anyone?

How It Works

Ahh, well, following the link would bring you to this:

Basically a thumb on the ball will keep it open.

Kinda resembles a Svörd in that respect, no?

Wow - that is cool.

I lost my Opinel a while back via the old "didn't know I had a hole in my pocket" method (and, being the huge nerd I am, proceeded to post a link to the history of the knife on the local Craigslist, with an exhortation to enjoy it for whomever might have found it) - been meaning to replace it, and maybe it'll be with one of those instead of another Opie.

Or maybe I do need both... ;)
