Ive been looking for a 18"-20" HD 12ga pump under $200. Ive not found anything worth having used and no rem or moss in my price range new. I have found a Legacy Escort that fit my needs. I dont hunt or shot skeet just HD and shoting to shot. Is it of any quality compared to to 870, 500 or 88? Is $179 a good price? Or do I keep looking? thanks

Sssigh......

For a few dollars more, one can get a used ,US made pump that will last several generations, serve multiple roles providing food, security and recreation, and is of known quality with after sales service available.

My last 870, known here as Number 6, was bought two years ago. Out the door, it cost $177.

Bass Pro now has the Super Mag Express on sale for $200 after rebate.

Your friendly local gun shop probably has used 870s,500s,88s, 1200/1300s and 37s for about that much.

Buy American.....

Money saved on purchase price is not the only proof of a bargain. Years of trouble free service, confidence in use and ease of finding parts and mechanics if needed are another part of the equation not fully reflected in purchase price alone.

Hereabouts there are good used 870s on the racks for less than $200 on a frequent basis, and spare short barrels can be had for less than $100 consistently. The 870 platform has the best support of any available shotgun because more of them are out there in use. It is the most versatile repeater available because all sorts of companies manufacture all sorts of accessories for it. It is arguably the most robust repeating shotgun ever built.

Bargains are not made on purchase price alone...

Thanks
I kept looking and expanded my budget a bit and found a deal on a new Winchester 1300.:D

The escort aimguard is a bargain, let me explain... It is the $800 H&K FP6 from which the heatshield and sights, and "H&K" stamping were removed. The rest is identical, all parts of one fit the other.
So I'd say at $200 the Escort is probably the best bargain around!
