Opinion wanted: 1911 VZ Grips

Hey guys, I've pretty much decided on getting a set of VZ Grips for my 1911, but I'm wondering for those of you own them:

The Thumb Scoop is supposed to aid in accessing the magazine release easier. I can see how that would help - but I also don't really care about that because my 1911 is more of a range gun. What I'm curious to know is, do you find that having the scoop for your thumb provides a better grip? When I see it I'm reminded of the little scoop that is on Gen 4 Glocks, and to a lesser extent my LCP, and it definitely feels more comfortable gripping those guns because of the thumb scoop. But does it really carry over well? I've got only-slightly-larger-than-average hands, and an arched MSH on my 1911.

(FWIW: I've got it narrowed down to two. If I get the thumb scoop, I will be getting the Aztecs; if I don't get the thumb scoop, I'll be getting the ETCs)

I've never done the super scoop but i like the scoop, it does allow your thumb to just slip in there. One of my girls got a new pair of shoes last night..

Nice lookin gun! I think a full dust shield on a 1911 is a great addition. Makes it look more industrial, I just didn't get one on mine because it was my first 1911.

It's not like the glock as there is no rise. I don't notice it all under fire, except making mag changes easier. My Mono is just a range/Comp gun.

Texture?

I was considering a set myself, but I wondered about the texture. Are the hard plastic or more of a rubber type?
I wondered how much rubbing they would do on your skin if carried IXB concealed.

^They are hard like hard plastic but made of composites. Depending on the type they can range from smooth as silk to cheese grater. The ones in my pic are pretty aggressive in texture. I have VZ's on everything that can accept them.

I have a set without the recess. I would have gotten the recessed one if they weren't a one off experimental set that i scored for close to free. Vz decided to nix the colors.
