I am looking at buying a Henry Big Boy. I can't decide on .44 mag. or 45 colt. I reload for both. My uses will be recreational plinking and possibly deer hunting with shots under 100 yds. with no scope. I have plenty of other rifles for longer shots. Thought it would be different to hunt with a lever action.

Which caliber?

Thanks in advance.

You have the choice between a win and a win . The only advantage of the 44 mag chambering is the ability to shoot 44 Spl cartridges. If that is important than go with the 44 mag.
Otherwise, either will do just fine.
