I've searched the site, just looking for some opinions on the .40SW Vertec version of the beretta 96. Shooting, handleing, accuracy , reliablity, ect. This would be a range gun mostly, not going to try and conceal carry it.
I've discovered I'm not a .45 auto fan so this would be my large caliber auto, such as it is. Thanks for any responses.

Sorry to hear your not a 45 fan ,that aside,
Im not shure about the vertec, but the standard 96 brigadier is a sweet shooter I prefur the Inox.
The next best thing to a 1911.

Did you consider a .40 In a 1911?

A 1911 in .40 would be great, can't find locally. Definitely would just want a GI or mil-spec in .40, I think springfield makes one, I could possibily order.
I had a .45 a while back, the recoil seemed longer if that makes any sense, definitely brought me off target alot. 40SW might seem sharper but its over quicker, and I figured 40 would be a step up from 9. Just my thoughts on the caliber wars, I know everyone is different. Just an excuse to buy another gun i guess.

While I don't own one, the Beretta Vertec is the only model of the 92/96 series that I would consider buying. The reason is simple; small hands, and the fact that I don't feel comfortable with the grip size and shape of the standard large frame Beretta. The Vertec, on the other hand (forgive the pun), feels fine; more like a M1911 with a flat mainspring housing. So better ergonomics, at least for me, would be the main factor in my decision, if I were looking at a Vertec.
