I am thinking strongly about rounding out my lever 94 collection with a 375 Win Big Bore. I already have a 9422 xtr and a pre-64 30/30 so I was thinking about a nice big bore. The idea of the 375 appeals to me since I like the 38/55 but don't want to spend the money necessary to get a nice one.

Any opinions? Over on leverguns.com they are quite oppular and held it high degree.

Also the general opinions are that 38/55 can be fired in the 375 win because the current brass from Starline is short like the 375. Any comments or opinions?

Kind of limited on ammo since you will have to shoot FP's out of the lever action, but a really good caliber.......I use the Hornady 220 FP for deer with my T/C SSK Industries 375JDJ and just recently bought a T/C G2 Contender rifle in the same caliber....

Granted, but as a handloader I was planning hard cast bullets and Seirra Flat Points mostly. I am not really planning on hunting with it. It would be massive overkill for anything I could afford to hunt here in Texas.

Thanks for the comments.

A buddy of mine has three 94 Big Bores in .307 Win, .356 Win, and .375 Win. His favorite is the .375, and he says it will crumple a wild hog like a Dixie Cup :). Get one, you will like it.

Just my .02,

I bought a 375 winchester 94 when they first came out. it shot ok but the problem was that after a box of shells through it , the magazine tube would be at about 4 to 5 o'clock at the end of the barrel. after several attempts to fix it I decided it needed another home. I would consider another if I thought the problem wouldn't happen again.

I've been thinking of getting a 94 big bore .375 myself. What do you think caused the magazine to shift around on yours? Did it have a lot of recoil compared to a .30-30?
Thanks.

the recoil is more than the 30-30 but it certainly isn't punishing by any means. I don't have any idea what the problem was with the tube. it was kind of a shame as it has a fairly decent piece of would for a 94 and finish overall was pretty good. if I could be certain that the tube problem was just with this rifle I would get another one. it is very hard to beat a 94 Winchester for carrying

Thanks Steveno. I agree. My 94 .30-30 is my behind the seat, backup rifle for deer and elk hunting. I wish it was a .375 though. I hope the magazine problem you had with yours is not chronic to .375 94s.
