I have been considering getting a compact detective slide for my BHP. They are from Argentina and appear to take about an inch off overall length. If I get when then the BHP will become my primary CCW provided it functions correctly. Any thoughts from those with experience with these?

I recall that a few problems were reported with these when they first came out a couple of years ago over on the forums at fnhipower.com . I'd advise running a search there.

Somebody here also had problems with one. Was it fumegator? I can't remember.

Nope, not me. All my BHPs are full-size. ;) I remember reading the same thing here, just don't remember who it was.

Ive shot one but never owned one. The problems they had with them, at least in part, were no one stocked recoil springs for them and when the OEM springs went south, they wouldnt function anymore.

Shoot well.

HP detective

:D I have the complete gun from FM. It was just as cheap as the slide and barrel. Accepts all HP mags and has never had a problem. I use it for carry with the 17 round mags and for ccw side shoots at our idpa matches. Got mine from cdnn about a year ago. A friend just got one off the net about 4 months ago. Buy if you can find one..you will love it. Sent to Novacks for some work before I used it. Night sights, relibility package ect.:D

I just picked up two FM Detectives to compliment my BHP full size. So far, they are very nice shooting, reliable weapons.

Just wondering why you wanted to loose an inch off of your BHP?

Most folks worry about keeping the handle from printing.

I have never had a problem with length:neener:
