Midway has this for sale for $50:

BSA Holographic Sight 33mm Heads Up Display 4-Pattern Reticle (2 MOA Dot, Crosshair with 1 MOA Dot, Open Crosshair with 1 MOA Dot, 25 MOA Circle with 6 MOA Dot) Matte.

Does anyone have any experience with these? The reviews are all over the place, which isn't a good sign.

I'd probably mount it on a 9mm subgun.

I have had two of them. The first one lasted about 50 rounds of .45ACP while mounted on my Beretta CX-4 Storm. The second one, received as a replacement for the first, didn't make it through one 8 round magazine. I wouldn't rely on it for any defensive use, nor on anything bigger than an air rifle, or as a finder scope on a telescope.

I've had good luck with the 30 millimeter Millett red dot scope I have on the Beretta right now. It's worth the extra money, and is still in the "affordable" range.

Be careful who you choose to stand behind and support. If you are unwilling to take care of yourself, you must take whatever care that comes along. I've yet to see a flock of sheep, no matter how well cared for and tended, that doesn't get fleeced from time to time and eventually end up on the dinner table. Not many sheep die a natural death. "you get what you pay for" think about it. $50... are you kidding, my larue mount cost over 3x that amount, just to mount my aimpoint. I don't want to sound like a gloater or "look at me" kind of guy, but for $50 don't expect much.

If you want a good combat Scope that will handle recoil and a bit of abuse, check Ebay for an Aimpoint Comp M2, M3 or M4. But the Cheapest I've seen a Comp M2 is $375. They're worth the money!

I have personally seen the Military Rep for AimPoint, spike his Comp M4 off the cement 2x, remount it an it still holds zero, after 6 months of contact with the guy, his Aimpoint is looking pretty beat up, but still works perfect.

I've got one on an AR-15 and really like it. Have had no problems at all - have shot at least 150 rounds with it so far. The tiny dot alone is what I use and it is more accurate than the iron sights at the 30 yard range where I shoot. My wife uses the cross-hairs dot setting and likes it as well.

Thanks, looks like I'll pass on the BSA.

I do already have a Eotech and an Aimpoint. Just looking for something cheap to mess around with on some "fun guns," but if it breaks, it's not worth the money.

I'm surprised to see some of these responses. Ive fired about 100 rounds of 12 gauge, including some 3" full power slugs with this same optic mounted on my 590. Other than a battery dying because I forgot to turn it off once, it works perfectly. Are you sure you guys are talking about the same optic here ?

Actually though, now that I look again.. you've got 2 bad reviews, 2 good ones, and someone who hasn't tried it and just says it must be bad because it's not expensive. I wouldn't pass it by based on that.

Here it is mounted on the 590 and going strong.

The reviews on the Brownell's website are really mixed as well though.

I suspect their might be a QC problem, which would explain why some people have problems and other's dont.

I'm still mulling it over, but leaning agains the purchase right now. It's *almost* cheap enough for a "Oh, what the heck" purchase, but not *quite* there.

I put one on an AR180B, after all, it sure isn't a top notch AR, and neither is the sight.

It seems to be a good fit, it still works and I have no trouble using it and hitting the target at 100-150 yds.

Precise it isn't, but it isn't supposed to be.

They are cheap enough I may pick up a few more.

There's a guy on eBay selling the same sight as Sportsman's guide sells for $49.00 + shipping for $35.00 delivered direct from Hong Kong. I've seen them with BSAs name at Dunhams for $99.00! Anyway, I bought one for my Hi-Point carbine, and loved it. Since I'm experimenting with a tube-bodied red dot on it now, I moved the reflex to my WASR. So far it's working out fine. I plan to buy several more of these...
