opinions on cx4 storm

I own one in 9mm.

Superb little carbine. Light, comfortable, reliable and accurate. It's super easy to take down/clean, ambidextrous and can be switched in the field for righties or lefties. The sights flip down, and with the rail and a std. 30mm optic you can co-witness the sights perfectly.

It's a fun carbine, everyone that shoots mine ends up liking it or wanting one.

Mec-Gar makes great 20 round mags, better than Berettas in that they have a stop built-in (and they're cheaper).

Here's mine with all the gadgets installed:

OH NO!!!

Brace yourself RAZOR....youve just opened the canoworms.

I concur with everything Swingset just stated....having given a CX4 to my SO. She is very pleased with her carbine.....can shoot the X outta the target with ease. Have had NO issues with it.

NOW..shortly all kinds of folks will be popping in...telling you what a fugly, expensive,PISTOL caliber waste of time and money.
Wait till you get the dissertation of why you would, should, had better, be a gettin yourself a 223/5.56..for it is MORE PERFECT.

Many comments about how worthless it is...nevermind them....the CX4...that are owned.....have been accurate, reliable, and a whole lot of FUN!!!

Do you want a pistol cal. carbine?

I have one also.
I have shot the Beretta and the .... um..... :D ..... hi-point.
Neither is more accurate than the other, well using WWB ammo.

Since I am not going to use a 9mm carbine for comp., I opted for the Hi-point and after the first 100 rounds all FTFs ceased. It has been a fun ugly little rifle for the last 2 years. Choate is coming out with a new .... well case, 'cause that thing Hi-point wraps around it aint much of a stock. It looks a bit more appealing too.
So I saved 400 bux on buying a carbine and put more $ in a pistol/AR goodies :D

I am not a gun snob, but I do like my 1911s, Eagles and ARs Savage etc.
So the flames I 'll catch about the HP wont bother me :neener:

I have one in .40 and its a blast to shoot, in fact I just might take it to my back yard and burn some ammo later today.

I've heard that the trigger is not the greatest, and the design is not conducive to tweaking. Does anyone make a drop-in FCG for it, or is this not as big of a turn-off as people say?

Thanks,
Mike

Sadly, a good amount of the FCG is plastic. Now some people do trigger jobs on these, and results are apparently good. Raw trigger (on mine) was a tad over 9 pounds. With polish, 4-5 is supposed to be doable. (I have yet to do anything significant to mine...afraid of messing the plastic up..)

Or, I guess, simply shoot it lots.

Keith

I've gotten used to trigger, its not the best by a long shot but were not talking about long range rifle work here. I know there used to be a link to a site telling how to lighten the trigger pull and make it a bit crisper over on the beretta forum, but I don't have the skill or tools to atempt it, although it did seem somewhat easy. unfortuantly there is a lot of slack you have to take up before it breaks, and that can't be fixed because of the design of it.

I took mine out earlier today and at about 50 yards with the iron sights I put ten rounds in a 10" group from a slightly supported position.

Swingset, Ive noticed you have a three prong flash hider on your storm. Kina reminds me of a M16A1 flash hider. Where ddi you get it? :scrutiny:

I sighted in my Lt's one weekend at the range. It was 9mm and had an aimpoint redot on top. I liked it alot and will eventually pick one up, but there are a few others that are higher on the list. It shot great at 25 and 50 meters and felt good while doing it. No malfunctions of any kind in the little bit of time that I shot it. light weight and handy very pleased, and 9mm is cheap.

Yep, have one in 9mm and love it. The only drawback was that it had a problem with aftermarket mags "falling out". I was able to fix it by modifying the magazine catch spring.

Beretta would not make the adjustment as they told me Beretta factory mags works fine and they don't recommend aftermarket mags.

It is a 3-prong M16 hider, I had it drilled out to 9mm and permanently attached after shortening the barrel to 14.875".

Coronach, the trigger is VERY easy to tweak, even though it's polymer. The sear angle can be changed with judicious use of a resin file, and the bearing surfaces can be smoothed out to effectively halve the trigger pull. Mine breaks at about 4.5lbs which is ideal for a pistol carbine. The trigger isn't a weak point, IMHO.

As for customization, it's hard to understand what more people could want from it. It's not an AR but Beretta supplies rails everywhere you would want them, and the features are already so handy I can't come up with something it needs. People bitch about the thumbhole stock but it's comfortable and has spacers for different LOP's. That's the only thing I think it lacks say over a 9mm AR.

Interesting.

I've always said that I have no use for a pistol caliber carbine, as I have rifle calibers for "use" (such as it is) and .22 for practice. And I keep repeating this mantra every time I see threads like this, or the one with the Vector 10mm MP-x clone. ;)

I really have no use for this...

Really.

None.

I...don't...

...need...

...this.

Mike :scrutiny:

Pistol carbines aren't as useful for me as they are fun and cheap. There are better guns in the same size package for killing, but I bought it because I liked it, no other reason really.

And, in the worst case scenario, I guess I could use it to shoot someone if I had to.....like if they tried to swipe my Storm.

Oh yeah, I know. I agree. They look cool as heck, too. Plus, every time I watch BSG I want to get one and put a red dot scope on it and play toaster-slayer.

Mike ;)

now if we could convince Hi-Point to release another carbine in .45acp and make it compatible with grease gun mags.

I have to mention that the front sight wings are HUGE. I think otherwise it's a well thought out rifle. Spotting a target much past 100yds gets annoying due to the mostly blocked sight picture. I know it's a pistol caliber however there really isn't any good reason that you couldn't shoot accurately out to 100yds with it.

I have one. Everyone is right about the accuracy. Every bullet goes in the same spot and punches the x ring out of a target with ease. Light, fast, accurate, and cool looking. The only thing I dont like (and others who have shot it) is the fact that you have to pull the trigger so far back that it is almost unnatural. The first time I shot it I was like... I think its broken. My friends shot it and they said "Why isnt it shooting?". I knew it was because of the safety feature on the trigger that you have to pull ALL the way back to fire, but I dont like it and I'd change it if i could.

Other than that its an awesome gun, and in 9mm is nice and inexpensive. I bought it when the Hi Cap ban was in effect, and the promotion was.. if you buy it and the ban expires, Beretta sends you 2 15 round mags. It expired, and I got my 2 15's. WIth the gun came 2 10's. When I buy my 92Brigadier, I'll get 2 more 15's. Yup, Looks like I'm a winner in life haha.

How about one of theses to go with it

img_px4storm.jpg

BTW does the Px4 accept standard 92fs mags like the storm if chambered in 9mm?

PX4 takes proprietary mags. :banghead:

But, I guess if you're crazy about it you can get an adapter so that the CX4 takes the pistol mags, although no high-caps are available....which to me kills that idea right now.

I'll stick to my early 80's Itilian 92F thank you. :neener:
