I carry a 1911 currently OWB. Would the G36 make a good ankle gun or not? Sometimes fashion dictates carry styles and I'm thinking perhaps a good ankle holster might be the way to go when I am wearing nice slacks, a tucked in shirt, dress shoes with argile socks. You know the scene - exceptionally nice restaurant, clients and or a date. Summer weather which means no sport coat or jacket, etc. Any ideas guys?

It could work, but the grip is a bit long - might print against your trousers. Personally, I think that the shorter-gripped G26/G27/G33 would be more concealable in an ankle holster, but I say this having tried them against a G19/G23/G32 size pistol, and the G36 is pretty similar to the latter models (albeit thinner). Try it out and let us know how you get on!

"Is that a pistol on your ankle, or are you pleased to see me?" :neener: :p :D

I've got fairly monstrous calves, and I owned a G36 for a while, but I never contemplated ankle carry. I can effectively ankle carry a J-frame or Colt Pocket Nine, but that's as big as i want to go. If it must be a Glock, consider Preacherman's suggestions.

I used to carry a baby Glock (G26 and G33) on my ankle at work for over a year. They're about as big and heavy as I'd want to stuff in an ankle rig. The G36 is more like the G19 in size, so the grip will print more. I second the notion that a subcompact small-frame Glock is the practical limit in ankle carry for most folks.

Although Glock catagorizes the 36 as a subcompact, you would need tree trunk ankles to carry the 36 on your ankle :)

Never say never

I have seen some rather large pistols in ankle carry rigs...

But a Kahr PM9 would be more comfortable

I've had one and it's definitely not an "ankle" gun. At least not for 90 percent of folks out there.

Good Shooting

I have ankles like the proverbial tree trunk!

And, while I have never tried the G36 I have tried others such as the G26. Just can't get used to the feel of it on my ankle. Feels like a brick strapped to my "tree trunk". Good shooting;)

I used to carry a G27 around in a Galco Ankle, and it worked perfect. I am now considering carrying a G30 (which I have not bought yet) on my ankle. I know the G30 is bigger than the G27, but how much bigger?

When I put a G30, G23, & a G27 all right next to each other, the G30 looks the same size as the G23/G19. The G27 is noticably smaller than the G30, and I only have one or two pants cut right so the G27 hides right on my ankle. The G30 is a great pistol, but bigger than the G27.
