hey guys. what are all of your opinions on magpul pmags? any past experiences or anything i should know? reliability? durability? how do they compare to plain aluminum mags?

Best thing since smokeless powder. Seriously. They're durable, reliable, quality magazines at a good price.

I keep several on hand loaded, with a Pmag in my rifle for defensive purposes.

I think they are the best magazines available hands down. I have one I have used and abused in two different carbines, a AR and a sig 556, and it has been flawless. No hyperbole, either. Flawless.

Agreed. They've been torture tested by many a YouTube warrior. Dragged, burnt, shot. They keep coming, and theyre cheap, light, and reliable.

They are outstanding.
1)cheap
2)durable
3)easy to find/readily available
4)reliable
5)available in various capacities
I highly reccomend them.

There's nothing better when it comes to AR mags. They are cheap, durable, reliable, and sold practically everywhere.

If only they would start making AK mags. Just imagine the boatload of cash they could make selling AK-74 magazines with the same level of quality and for the same price as their AR Pmags.

I agree with the rest of the guys, Pmags are where it's at, I don't think I've bought another metal mag since I got my first Pmag. They just plain work. Sadly they are not available in 6.8, otherwise I would have only Pmags in my collection

Pmags are good mags especially the 30 rd. I have lately been using Lancer AWM mags and I think they are better esp the 20rd AWM compared to Pmag 20s.

geez guys, let's not get too carried away.

the pmags are good, but they don't do much better than quality GI mags. and they are WAY more expensive than standard mags. like 50% more expensive ($10 vs $15)

specifically,
pmags have a lid which lets you store them loaded without putting pressure on the feed lips
pmags have a feed lip gauge built into the lid which allows you to make sure they haven't spread
pmags have an anti-tilt follower built in, but dang near everybody runs the magpul anti-tilt follower in their gi mags anyway
pmags are a little grippier

probably the best feature is that being plastic, WHEN they fail, it is usually a crack that is obvious as opposed to aluminum which tends to bend slightly or just pop one of the welds on the spine in a not so obvious way. however, this isn't always the case.

I usually the use the double and triple pouches, which are made for the GI mags, but the PMAGS are wider. Not sure how well they'd fit in one.

With all the hype about Pmags on this thread, I ordered a couple to try. I hope they are THAT good.

I like them, but as noted above, they actually perform no better than any other quality metal mag.

On a side note the military has recently forbidden their use by soldiers. Not sure what their reasoning was.

Good stuff. Definitely easier to load/unload than aluminum. Tough enough for competition. Only time I had a stoppage with one it's because I scooped up a handful of dirt with the open end of the magazine that I fumbled.
