Does anyone have any experience with these scopes.

Looking at a Guide Series 3-12X50mm scope.

The scope has lots of features. Here’s a list:
Fully-coated optics
Nitrogen purged,
100% waterproof, fogproof and shockproof,
11-position illuminated etched duplex reticle
1/4" M.O.A. adjustments for windage / elevation,
Matte Black finish,

Comes with free sunshade and Weaver type rings

Here’s the link:

Seems like a very good deal at under $50. Specially considering the Sportsman Guide no BS guarantee – that if I’m ever unhappy with the scope, just send it back for a full refund or exchange.

I suspect that this scope is made in China so aside from the obvious comments of why support a communist regime with the purchase, can one really go wrong here?

Regards,
Rob

IIRC, they are NC Star scopes re-labled for SG. They are not bad, but they are not great either.

I received the scope a few days ago.

According to the box and the instructions, Barska is the maker of these scopes. The free rings were already mounted on the scope tube so I used those to mount the scope on my rifle. As soon as I tightened down the top part fo the scope ring with the supplied allen wrench I could feel the wrench give way and stripped out one of the hexagonal bolts. So for sure I'm not impressed with the rings.

I have not had a chance to get out to the range yet. I should be able to sight everything in on Wednesday. We'll see how well I shoot.

If I were you I'd replace those rings with some quality ones before I did anything else. You might as well before you go sight it in because if you don't now you're going to have to eventually if you keep using that gun. You can count on it.

It makes sense that Barska makes them for SG. They sell a lot of Barska stuff there.
