Anyone have or seen a T/C Renegade Hunter? I'm toying with getting one. I think they are like the Hawken, without all the brass.

Any drawbacks?

Thanks for any comments.

I have the old model Renegade with a set trigger. All the furniture is black. Because the furniture is steel rather than brass, there is less decoration, and the barrel is 1" shorter, the gun is lighter than the Hawken. The quality of either gun is equal.

I have both the T/C Renegade and Hawken. I prefer the Renegade, the hardware is black, the barrel is 1" across as opposed to the Hawken's 7/8",
The Renegade has a shotgun style buttplate (flat) as opposed to the crescent bett on the Hawken. Same quality and accuracy. I hope this helps.:)

have two,one has steal but plate, the other has plastic plate.both 54 cal, shoots great with ball and maxi-balls.great shooter, they are keepers.

Thanks for the info.

Nick - can you elaborate on the benefit of the barrel? Why are 1" flats preferable to 7/8" flats? Just curious.

Thanks again.

I`ve got a few of the T/C Renegades and Hawkens .. they are good well built guns // good life time warranty too .. i`ve used it once on one of mine .. i payed the shipping to T/C and they fixed for free and shipped it back in about 2 weeks . It was a lock repair so i only shipped them the lock .. no big deal . The 1 inch thick barrel does make for a straight shooter .. but for carrying .. it`s a little on the heavy side for me . They do have quality written all over them though ..so the extra weight might be worth carrying.
The 1 inch thick barrel is a plus on the long shots . I don`t own a thinner barrel that will shoot as straight at 100 yrds. Hope this helps .

The shorter barrel of the Renegade Hunter may benefit from having a heavier 1 inch barrel by absorbing a little more recoil in the larger calibers like .54, and may also help the barrel from overheating as rapidly.
