Hello everyone. I've had my mind on purchasing an M1903a3 for some time now, and never made time to search. I'm currently looking at the CMP website and the Remington M1903a3 is still for sale. This is going to be a shooter. Anyone have opinions, or purchased this particular rifle from the CMP website, please leave your 2 cents :) . Pros and Cons?

Thank you all!

Miguel V.

Are there any left?

Are there any left? Last I checked the CMP '03 sales page hasn't been updated since 11-17. I'd check on the CMP's forums first: either CMP Sales or Ask Orest.

That being said, I received my Remington '03A3 in early January. It looked pretty good considering its age. I have yet to shoot it -- I'm waiting for warmer weather :(

The one I got last year is AWESOME! Beautiful rifle. Great trigger. Very accurate. Very clean bore.

I also have been thinking about '03A3 from CMP. I 've been a little wary of getting something with a sewer pipe, the sound of the description from the CMP doesn't offer a lot of confidence.
Can anyone who has ordered one since last summer chime in and give their opinions good or bad. Some pics would be even better.

Did they just get some? Last time I'd looked, I thought it said they weren't expecting to get any more?

they still have some 1903 mark 1 (pederson device) springfield receiver mixmasters, and some 1903a3 can't remember type mixmasters

I am with Offthepaper who mentioned that the description makes the barrels sound like sewer pipes. These are apparently mainly VFW 'funeral service' rifles being returned.

How available are replacment barrels for springfield 1903s?

I'm going to email them first thing tommorow morning. I'm definately ordering some of that greek ammo.

I think at this time I would look at other options other than the cmp ones due to their barrels. If you could go and pick one out of their store you may find a nice one.

If it needs a barrel they are around for the 03a3 and are usually found for between $100 to $150 for a new barrel like remington. Stocks run from like $75 up for a 03a3.

Their garands and carbines are pretty nice but 1917,s and 03,s are not what they used to be from the cmp. That does not mean you can not get a nice one from them as I still here of it happening.
