Which one do you guys like of these Remmys? For serious target work in competition and for hunting, deer and the like.

I think the target model that Cabela's has is 100.00 more..

I enjoy it, it's easy to clean. I don't like the sights on it, but that's a fixable issue.

I have shot all four and have the "shooters" and the Pedersoli...both are fine competition revolvers. I believe the Dixie price is inflated and have seen them put on sale for $750...4 years ago they were $675. The Pedersoli has a nice Matt black finish and is a very good shooter. I was disappointed in the trigger as it had a "little creep" out of the box, but have since resolved that. At $900 for the Pedersoli I would suggest looking for a used "shooters" model (typically in the $400-450 range).

I have two of the "Shooters Model" made by Pietta, but back in the '80's, they were distributed by Navy Arms Company and called the "Remington Army .44 Deluxe model". I used mine in line competition shooting at the NMLRA Matches at Friendship, IN fron 1987 till 1998.

Best sight-in score at 25 yards was a 99-5X with 18 grains of Schuetzen (German) black powder, C.O.W., .457 RB, & bore butter on top. Picked up another one from a retired N-SSA Competitor recently. It will be in the Muzzleloading Forum Classifieds sometime this month.

Regarded as Pietta's most accurate competition revolver made, 4th best in the world after the Pedersoli, the Uberti/Hege, and best, the FWB/Hege revolver.

Worth having for paper target competition. I'll try and post a photo of mine.

I remember having one of those Navy Arms Deluxe Model Remington back in the 80's I bought it so my friends would stop borrowing and shooting my '51 Colt. It had a fixed front sight but the back sight was adjustable and mounted on the top strap. If I remember correctly it was the only model black powder revolver offered with adjustable sights back then.

Looking over the offerings the Pedersoli and the Pietta 'Shooters' model have the cleanest lines and looks basically like a regular Remington NMA. The only adjusting sight is the dovetailed front sight which is offered on all Uberti Remingtons with a forged frame. The Pedersoli has a 7 1/2 inch barrel while the Uberti offers a 8 inch barrel. Like to compare the twist rates but can't find the Uberti twist rates. The Pedersoli has a 1 in 18 twist rate and both Pietta's have 1 in 30 twist rate. Interesting.

On the Pietta 'Target' model looks like the front sight is fixed but on the Uberti SS model it looks like both the front and back sight can be adjusted.

And on the Pietta 'Shooters' model and Pedersoli it looks like they use the standard Remington top strap grove and dovetailed front blade. I don't remember the early Navy Arms offered 'Shooters' model by Pietta back in the 80's having anything but the standard Remington front blade but the back sight was mounted on the top strap and could be adjusted for windage. But I don't recall if you could adjust it for elevation.

I just thought this would be a good topic for discussion.

Interesting is the wide variance in the barrel twists of these 'Match Grade' target Remingtons with Pedersoli coming in with a relatively 'fast' twist while Pietta maintains their 1 in 30 twist rate. Euroarms use to offer a 'Target' Remington by putting match grade barrels on them but I can't find any information on who made the barrels or their twist rates.

The Remington Army .44 Deluxe Model/now "Shooters" model that I mentioned has two features not found together on any (to my knowledge) Pietta Remington Revolvers.

A dove-tailed front sight to adjust windage, and a silver-plated triggerguard. The rear sight was a fixed notch in the topstrap. It also was bored for the .457 RB, and nipple area was relieved to accept the Cash "snail" capper.

That's interesting Buck. I had a Navy Arms Remington that had the adjustable sight mounted on the top strap back in the 80's. But I can't remember what that was called. It had the back sight like this one but I can't recall if it had that large front sight on it.

The thing is you can buy the standard run of the mill Uberti Remington and get a dovetailed front sight;
