What do you guys think of this for a Seecamp.32?

http://www.angelfire.com/realm/mattgeissal/Holdster.html

Good idea or not? I think it seems like a great idea. It seems like it would give you more to hold on to, which is nice for a gun that's already so dinky, and it also seems that it would break up the shape of the gun more and be less bulky.

Plus, you wouldn't have to worry about your holster coming out with the gun as with a traditional holster.

Opinions? Does anyone here actually have one or has seen one?

Thanks

Ok, so as a leatherworker, I have to send a copy of my holster to the atf and get approval before I can use it?

Yea its legal..

We had a decent discustion on this subject a couple of months ago on www.ktog.org

I will simply repeat what I thought of the design..

Plus's...

VERY minimal weight in comparison to a leather holster

Minus's..

Zero protection from something snagging the trigger<~~main beef

FMarlon,
Several years ago, the BATF decided that certain holsters, that covered the weapon entirely were "AOW's" or something (even Galco used to offer one!)...making them a transferable item that you needed a tax stamp or senior LEO document to possess (for a better detailed description of what I am talking about goto wwwnaaminis.com to look for yourself...The above design skates around that rule, by only covering the trigger guard...I have had a few argument's with customers that didnt understand that they were against the law (but there a VERY neat design, and if I could legally I would offer one in a second!)...I even had one offer me TWICE the normal cost to get one...That one hurt to turn down.. :(

Hope this helps

FMarlon. That's my thought exactly. I suspect this one may have to do with the trigger being exposed, but I don't think the ATF gives a rat's butt about holsters. Mind you, I'm not from the US. The ATF gets their unelected nose into other stuff. Like instituting registration by regulation.

Drjones, I thought I might jump in here......
I think it is a GREAT idea for daily 24/7 carry...........
...but then again I also make the Holdster. :D
I agree that the design is not for everyone as the trigger is exposed, but for the Holdster to be instantly accessible and ATF compliant, it must be.
All of the pistols that I make the Holdster for have very heavy trigger pulls and the design is more protected than carrying in your pocket solo. The design also cushions the gun for rear pocket carry and helps to keep it oriented southwards and not rotate in your pocket.
Please feel free to mail me or post questions here if I may help answer any concerns.
Thanks,
Matt

It looks like a neat design. My only question is how do you get a decent firing grip with that covering the fron strap the way it does.

I posted this here because I would imagine others have the same question.

Mr. Turner:

I imagine that the hole in front of the frontstrap is for your finger.

My question is what is the point of a holster that doesn't keep things from snagging the trigger?

Thanks for the welcome! I look forward to participating.

The Holdster provides for a larger grip area on the gun by putting your middle finger into the "hole" and holding it normally.
Some of the pistols the Holdster is designed for have a pretty limited grip area (Seecamps) or are a bit top heavy(NAA 380/.32naa) or are light for the recoil(Kel-Tec), and the Holdster helps to compensate for these traits.

Since it is ambidextrious to use and padded as thick as most of the guns themselves (easy on your rear end) it is quite popular as a backup option for weak side carry for law enforcement.

A holster?.......No, not really meant to be, and certainly not for everyone. Just another option for us all, as aware, responsibly armed citizens.

Thanks,
Matt

Not Legal

North American arms came out with the idea 20 years ago for the mini revolver they sell in 22 short & LR and the ATF delcared them as AOW's about 5 or so years ago, call or email NAA and they'll give you the fed reg # . I hated it myself, those little wallet holsters really got you a "deer in the headlights" look when some slick dude says "give it up" and then when you smile & prepare to give it up and reply "head or gut" damn I miss being able to legally do that.:cuss: :banghead: :fire: :scrutiny:
