Greeting's All-

I would like to hear some expert opinions on the .40 caliber Kahr Elite 98.
We have one in the showcase that hasn't attracted any attention
in the five months that I've been employed at the gunshop. The weapon
is NIB, but demands a high price of $569.88 + 9% sales tax. The weapon
is heavy for a compact .40, and just as "blockey" as the Glocks. If you
have an opinion on Rev. Moons innovation, please chime in. Many thanks
in advance for sharing your thoughts, experiences, and comments.

Best Wishes,

Lovely, lovely pistol.

It's my night table pistol, and when I dress in very tailored clothes, it's what I carry for deep concealment. The small handgrip coneals very well, and, in polished stainless, it's just as fashionable as me. :) The fit and finish on mine are impeccable. Even better, I got mine for $525.00, mainly for the same reason: no one really wants them, and that's because they're not tacticool.

The K40 is a pistol you have to shoot to appreciate. The trigger is K-Y jelly smooth. (Sorry, I'm getting tired of the "smooth as butter on glass" analogy.:D) When fired, you simply don't notice the trigger. It's smooth with no perceptible break: it just goes bang. The grips are about the best I've ever held, and the pistol sits "just right" in my hands.

It's also *very* accurate. I once hit 5 small water bottles at 30 yards within 7 shots. One wasn't blown off the berm, but its bottom was facing me. I got that with 1 more. For that size barrel, I was astonished.

It's not for everyone. It can't be tacticalized, it's not a high-capacity pistol, and there's fewer bells and whistles than even a Glock. It is what it is: a higher-end personal self-defense pistol for a more discriminating shooter.

Ala Dan, judging by your location and sig line, I'm going to guess that you live in TN. If so, what shop do you work at if you don't mind me asking?

Dan,
Venturing out from the comfort of the Sig, are we??? :what:
I have the 9mm version.
I bought it used. Unbeknown to me, (and the friend I bought it from) it had a broken extractor. I shot approx 300 rounds before it would not function. I e-mailed Kahr and they sent me a new one free of charge. $15 and a trip to my friendly local smith, I'm good to go again!!

It's a very accurate pistol for having such a short barrel!!
Mine is rated for 9mm +P+ loaded to 1300fps!!
The MK series is what Glock should have come out with instead of the ego stroking G37!!

I hope this helps!! ;)

Rev. Moon's only "innovation" was a son named Justin who grew up to become an engineer who designed the little Kahr :p

I used to have an MK40 Elite 98 and I deeply regret selling it.

For such a little gun it was very accurate, the trigger was like butter and it carried exceptionally well.

The K40 should shoot better then the tiny MK but its still a thin and small pistol so it should ccw nicely as well.

Ala Dan,

The Kahr isn't heavy, everything else is light. Honestly, 26 ounces seems light enough to me. While it's unloaded heft may be similar to a glock 23, it will weigh up to a quarter pound less loaded. It's lack of girth makes it conceal easy and overall it is a compact and elegant design.

My only complaint is the price, and the fact that I sold mine.
