Dunno. I just ordered a 4.5x14x40 Leupold VX-3 for my CZ .22 rimfire. The magnification and super clear glass help my aging eyes. I keep my hunting scopes on the lowest setting. The higher power is there if you want it. A fixed 4x would be considered great for most any general big game hunting, and that's what you'd have.
I've heard Vortex makes decent stuff. Every scope looks good in bright, clear areas. About the only way I know to fairly compare is to look thru them side by side. I look towards a dark area of the store that has some type of sign to see if I can read the print. Make sure you have equivalent magnification and they are focused to your eye. And, make sure the power is at max. Poor optical quality shows up at extreme settings. I had a 6x24x50 cheapie that looked like it had wax paper over the lens at higher settings. I gave it away for free.
Another thing I'd do is look toward a bright light and see if it glares. Mid priced scopes typically do. I can look almost directly into the sun at sunset with my Leupold and there is zero glare.
If you're gonna hunt, it HAS to be fog proof and water proof.
