I want to add a red dot to my Browning Buckmark .22

I already purchased and installed a rail to replace the rear sight on this pistol, now I just need to decide what to get. I have been shopping already and see that there are many red dots below $100, this is about what I am willing to pay for optics on a plinky toy. This pistol will be used for general plinking/target practice, maybe to slay a squirrel or rabbit on occasion.

What features make a red dot more functional on a pistol?

Most are either 20 or 30 mm, what will be more advantageous for me?

Do I even want a red dot? What other options are there?

Any first hand info on brands is helpful!

I couldn't shoot a group like that with ANY of my guns, even clamped in a vise and bolted to a bench! Oh, and my Buckmark wears a 30mm red-dot from WalMart, BSA I think it is.
