Plinking scope?!

I need a good scope for plinking at 150 - 200 yards.

consistant tight groupings don't come from a scope.

I'm sorry to say but when you can't see the target your going to get tighter groupings with a scope!

First you don't need mil-dots to shoot good groups.

Second, you don't need super high power to shoot good groups.

If I were in the market for a real good .22 scope, I would look no further then this right here.

To followup with rc's suggestions, ....

thirdly, using a 22RF at 300-400yards and expecting to get consistant, good groups will be very frustrating. Wind deflection alone will probably introduce too much of a spread. Wont' matter how much money you spend on a scope.

Guys sorry about the confusion I made this thread when I was really tired so what I ment to say was 100 to 200 yards Max I have edited this thread to what I actually ment to say since I created it to save other people the time and confusion. Sorry once again.

Nikon also has the new P-22 scopes with the BDC 150 reticle too.

If I am trying to stretch a .22 LR beyond a hundred yards, I want more magnification than 9x. A LOT more, limited only by my holding ability from whatever position and mirage. A 6-18 would be a good start. If you couldn't get more.

I do not understand the usual gunboard recommendation of low powered scopes for TARGET SHOOTING. I do not see them on the range with serious shooters.

If you're "plinking" to 200-300 you'll need ~30 MOA to 200 from 50-yd. zero, and ~50 to 300. Get some Burris Z-rings with the offest inserts to tailor the scope to get the most useable up adjustment out of the turret. Nice thing about the Nikons is that they have a fun ballistic reticle (BDC works great for 22's), as well as a low-profile target turret for a decent price. Fact is with some of these optics you may even net 400 yd. plinkability out of it at around 90 MOA or so. IMO, you haven't lived a full life until you've shot out to 300yds. with a 22.
