I’ve never bought a sight or scope anywhere BUT optics planet. No more!!

Wow
I’ve been in their mailing list and have thought about ordering from them.

NOT NOW

I hope they have someone that monitors the web and sees this thread. Hopefully by the time they do they’ll see lots of replies like mine and change their mind. If not, let’s let them know that if they don’t reconsider we won’t do business with a company that doesn’t value our freedom and folds due to pressure from people who aren’t even their customers.

You could always copy and paste this to them in an email

Has this been confirmed?

Did they site a reason?

I cannot order the >10 round mags but I will not support a company that won't sell them to everyone else.

Yes
It’s even worse than OP makes out.
I just went to their site and pulled up several mags.
They’re saying that due to government restrictions sales are limited to law enforcement and security guards and the mags won’t be shipped until they receive proof. So unless something was passed that I’m not aware of they’re lying.

Well that was a pretty stupid decision on their part. They don’t seem to understand that we are the biscuit wheels on their gravy train. Do they think the anti’s are going to buy magazines or scopes from them for the guns they don’t own? Absolute idiocracy.

Buh bye OpticsPlanet.

Their website says nothing about this and there's no "FAQ page."

Okay, just went to the "magazines" section and saw they've removed over 600 products and added some strange verbiage about only being able to sell to LE/mil ... WTH?

I just sent them a message. Hopefully this backfires BIG time for them. I don't care if they go out of business at this point

Not very smart business considering what they sell. Gun owners must be a goodly portion of their business. Oh well, something to consider when looking for a product and ten other places have it for the same price. ;)

I have just added them to my don’t buy list.

Don’t they have a THR code?
Maybe the site owners can send a message to Optics Planet saying we won’t support them unless they change this stupid policy. I doubt it would help but maybe it would hold more weight than just individual messages to them.

I sent them an email. If they want to be a LE only retailer for mags, they can be LE only for everything else too
I agree.
But I have a problem with a company LYING to customers. Saying a government regulation restricts the sale when it doesn’t is not an ethical thing to do.
If they’ll lie like that what other lies and bad business practices will they use.

So yea, don’t sell mags greater than 10 rounds but own up and say it’s your policy not some non existent “government regulation”

I just sent them a message as well. I'll be interested to see if we get any type of reply.

Aren’t they in IL? Did an IL ordinance go into effect causing this? All I am saying is don’t get the nails and the cross out until it’s time to start hammering.

I HAVE NO IDEA what their thought process is or have a vested interest in them just saying get the whole story before making an enemy of a friend. Could very well be some wonky state issue.

If not.......by all means and I will light your torches on the way out th door. :)

After Sandyhook Cheaper Then Dirt screwed customers by canceling all ammunition orders then jacked up their prices the next day. I refused to ever buy from them again.
They made a killing on ammunition sales for a few months the their sales started dropping off. Today they are struggling to make it, due to customers boycotting them.
We need to boycott anyone that wishes to take sides with the anti gunners.

I didn’t see any place that says what regulation.
It seems to me if what you suggest is true they should have it in the FAQ and in the message.

Now I’m not saying you’re wrong, I just think that good business practices would be to be clear about what’s going on.

I just sent them an email as well. I honestly feel a little sorry for the CS rep who reads the flood of emails in the coming days. I’ve sent that link to everyone I know that owns a firearm. And they are putting it up on Facebook (since I don’t have one). The word will spread.
