Ordnance Testing on the M1/Quiz

Gentlemen,

The following is the answer to this quiz:

Ordnance wanted testing done as a finish on the M1 Garand using Pentrate. Testing showed that it came out "somewhat shiney". More testing was done on this finish because "Springfield Armory was having a fit about the use of Parkerizing as a finish for small arms weapons." But that's another quiz.
johnmcl you are correct Sir.
My sites with data and books and CD for sale. These are commercial sites. They also have Ordnance Data files posted there.

itgoesboom,
Thanks for your comeback. I know that Mr. Garand was the Master all I am trying to do is to get out the real story of the testing to Production of a New Combat System using the real Ordnance files.
Thanks again
Clancy

Ton of Fun

Clancy,

These quizzes for me are a great deal of fun. From a personal perspective they are fun as they enrich the Garand experience for me. A second aspect is that professionally I am responsbile for moving large and complex systems from somebody's good idea on a whiteboard to production. It is fun to see the same problems that I face being handled within the Garand community in the late 30's and early 40's.

Keep up the good work,

John
