Is there another way to trim cases other than with a trimmer?
I really hate trimming brass...:cuss:

There is the hardened die and file method, but thats even more tedius than with a case trimmer.

Do it in large batches. The electric trimmers are pretty good. I think Gracie makes a trimer that both trims, chamfers and deburs in one step, but its not cheap.

Yeah, its a real PIA chore; hopefully you're talking about rifle cases. I have an RCBS Trim-Pro (manual). I set it up with a 3-way cutter, and a bolt and socket through the shank on the right side so I could run it with a drill. Then tie a rope to the release lever, run it to the floor, and install a pedal so you can operate the lever with your left foot. (I run it barefoot, with the rope between my toes like a pair of beach thongs. It pays to never wear shoes, as we've discussed before:) ). I can crank out 600/hr without ANY hustle. Left foot releases the case, right hand removes it, LH feeds new casing, and RH runs the drill. 6 seconds tops (allowing for the odd fumble) per case.

If you're lucky, RCBS makes an X-die in the caliber you need, and you won't have to trim each time you shoot. I'm on my 7th firing of LC93 through an M1A, and the cases have settled down at 2.007-2.009". Haven't trimmed except for the initial reload. No incipient case head separation yet. I check each fired case EVERY time with a paperclip before reloading.
