Indian river, FL sherriff set up an emergency email alert system for citizens who wish to assist in times of crisis. This also includes getting breaking alerts from the police for missing kids, robberies and any incidents where people were needed to help search for someone who has pehaps gone missing. It's an all around first response type sight. It just went up "I got the email today" as I had signed up for any type of help needed.
This type of thing is a great idea for towns and countys across the country to have , so we can be alerted if something is happening that we may be able to help with or look out for.I also volunteered for anything that required even a few hours a day to patrol our schools or areas of worsip etc.
