After hearing, reading, and viewing all the "Mainstream" media, reporting on the "discussion" of the President/hopeful, it always showed a "regular guy/gal" expressing their hopes that Kerry will outfox Bush. NOT A SINGLE VOICE FOR BUSH!

Fair and unbiased media?

McCuddy: Let's talk politics. A lot of celebrities are getting involved. Is it going to make a difference?

Smith: Absolutely. I think that Hollywood and the media are two of the most powerful entities of opinion-making in America, in the world. I don't know exactly what the difference is, but there is absolutely a powerful influence. It's not always the influence you want, but there is definitely an adjustment that will be made in people's minds and in people's decisions.

McCuddy: Will it unseat our president?

Smith: Uh ... well, that's not exactly the force of all of Hollywood, you know? There are people that have different points of view, a different perspective. I don't know. I can't predict this one. I think that history says that [Bush] will continue to be president.

At least Will Smith thinks that Bush will be reelected.

But, I still know what you mean. Try watching Fox News and CNN, and pick somewhere in between. Seems to work for me

The sad choices

You have CNN not showing stories that might go against their values

You have FOX "interpreting" the news so that regardless of its content it is pro-Republican.

The news in the US sucks. It is all about $$$

Here is a flash for all of you folks out there.

The media has never been fair and balanced. News papers have never been unbiased sources of news. The idea that the media should present just the facts is a very recent concept.

Just read a little about Ben Franklin and the "News papers" he and his contemporaries published, which were nothing more than open, and even sometimes thinly disguised, attacks on political opponents.

Take a look at a news reel from WWII or even an Edward R. Murrow news program from the 50's.

Go to the library and look at a news paper from any era in the past, the blatant bias will astound you.

Media in the past.

Very true Master Blaster. Thank you for the reminder. One of the big magazines recently ran an article about political articles written in newspapers a century ago, and how today they would be considered libelous (or slander? Can't recall which one is which). They were pretty outrageous in their accusations about candidates

Master

I'm sure most of us wouldn't have such a huge problem with bias in the media....if the media didn't claim to be unbiased.

Guess all my English/Journalism profs were wrong. The "who, what, where, when, and why" never matter. And opinions don't belong in the EDITORIAL pages.

I think I saw the same thing on NBC or ABC I forget...all of them looked like liberals in the first place. (Yes, you can tell one when you see one. They know that, thats why they were picked for the "poll".) They all had some oddball interpretation followed by "Oh I liked Kerry".

/wishful thinking liberal correspondent "Well there you have it, Tom, it looks like Kerry is the clear winner amongst these folks, sure to give Kerry a big boost."

Pahleez!! The liberals don't even need a spin team for their campaign, it all gets done by their cohorts regardless..

Remember they are all in it for their own self interest. Money is what drives it all. The big media conglomerates like the Dems more because they pander to the media. The Dems are more likely to allow naked titties, snoop doogy, and other such childish stuff to be freely shown, so that means more bling gets sold by the sponsers, and more Do Re Mi Moola for the big corporate folks that run the media.

Most of the folks running the Media grew up in the big city so liberalism is what feels comfortable to them.

Our job is to look at things as objectively as possible, consult multiple sources of News and pay attention to what they dont say as much as what they do say.

BTW dont get me wrong I like titties.:D

That's the message I've been trying to get out to my friends and fellow students. The reason it's such a sticking point is that they all claim to be unbiased. The reason it's a problem is because people can't THINK FOR THEMSELVES. That goes for both sides of the mainstream spectrum and a lot of the third-party people too.
