I know someone who opened a gun store in NH, which is about 2 hours from me. I would like to have her put maybe 10 of my guns on consignment in her store. I live in CT. Can I drive these guns to her store and transfer them to her there without going thru an FFL in CT? The cost to ship 10 handguns would be sick and is stupid since I live 2 hours away.

I know I can't sell to an out of state resident but this would go into the FFL's bound book as a transfer in. I'd leave them there until they sold so no issue getting them back.

Obviously, when being transported, they would be unloaded and locks in a case with no ammo present at all. All transportation laws would be followed. I just want to know if the actual transfer would be legal.

Yes, unless CT has a restriction against leaving the state with a firearm or requires additional records.

To retrieve a consigned gun, a 4473 and NICS would be required. As you can only acquire a handgun in your own state of residence, the NH dealer would have to ship them to a dealer in your state for transfer back to you.

Thanks you guys. That was the answer I hoped to hear. I wondered if NH had a law that stated otherwise but a search didn't answer my question.
