I have a question about purchasing a handgun from another state. Example, I am from NY and a LEO. If I were to attend an out of state gun show and spot something I would like to buy, how would I go about this. Pennsylvania would be the state in question. I have purchased rifles this way many times with no problem but never a handgun. Thanks in advance for any input. Bill

Have it shipped to an FFL in your state. Then go in person to that FFL and pick it up and pay the transfer fee, get the background check, and whatever other nonsense NY imposes on you. At least how it'd be done in most of the country. NY isn't normal.

Thanks Jimmie, pretty much what I thought. No real advantage once shipping and FFL fee is figured in. I was not sure if it was just cash and carry now that I can do that anywhere in the country. Thanks, BIll

P.S. Relax Titan, not everything is what you read or see on TV.

Long guns can be purchased out of state as long as the seller follows both the laws of his state as well as that of the buyers. Out-of-state handgun purchases are prohibited by federal law, and as Jimmie mentioned you must have it shipped to an FFL in your state to do the transfer.
