Hello,
I am new to this forum but not to reloading. I am looking for better accuracy and want to experiment with loading my 25-06 bullets closer to the lands. I measured where my bullet (hornady SST 117 grain) touched the lands and it was approximately 3.225 OAL. Where should I start .010 or more from the lands? I do not reload near the max so pressure isn't a big concern but accuracy is. Thanks for all inputs.

Hello, Calster. Since you are after accuracy..why not start with bullet touching..not jammed into lands..and cut back to starting loads using your most accurate powder? Then try seating .010" further off lands. Only changing 1 thing at a time will you know for sure what is going on.

The answer should be whatever gives best accuracy. You do need to consider how accurately you load and the precision of the bullet. .010 should be a safe point to start, can you measure it and load accurately? You should consider that sticking a bullet and dumping powder into the mag if neck tension isn't enough. Lots of things to consider.
