I may have asked a similar question recently, but can't find it here. Not sure...
Anyway, what is the concensus on Browning's BPS pump?
Celebrated shotgun authority Don Zutz (now deceased) told me in a letter years ago that it handled badly and was a "chugger" in regard to action smoothness.
The few I've handled recently seem pretty smooth working and point okay. The bluing seems less likely to have reddish undertones than Remington's.
Did Browning "tweak" this model awhile after it was introduced, or was Zutz just so much a "double barrel man" that he exaggerated its faults?
I had one very briefly about 1980, and the action did seem a little stiff,as I recall.
Assuming that one doesn't mind the bottom ejection and the slightly blocky look to the trigger, is the BPS one of the top pumps, or just a pump that Browning tries to sell because its name is on the gun?
