Receiving goods via a shipping agent.

I'm posting this now as I am prepared to receive a package from each of the major shippers, UP, FedEx, USPS. I received email updates from each as of this afternoon.

I'm not sure what it's like elsewhere, but here in Ohio, I'd rather have a package arrive via UPS than any other service. UPS has consistently provided good notices and pretty accurate arrival times. They even note the place where the package was left. FedEx is pricey and their package tracking seems to be posted about a half day or more behind where the package actually is in the pipeline. USPS has, by far, the worst shipping updates and overall delivery time. Often, I receive the package, and the shipping information isn't updated other than the "Shipping Info Arrived" message. That's pretty useless.

One of the other really poor delivery methods is the DHL/USPS coop delivery. Whew! That's a stinker. Never had a good update. Invariably these come from Amazon $25 - free shipping deals.

I picked up a line from someone's newsgroup posting a while back. They referred to "the little brown truck of happiness". That sums up my feeling about UPS deliveries nicely.

I know there's a tradeoff in price and service level. When I can do it for a reasonable price, UPS Ground is my favorite.

I'm just wondering if everyone else is of the same opinion.

So, overall, who's your favorite shipping agent to "receive" goods from?
