OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Overland Park's City Council decided Monday that it is OK for residents to walk down the street with a gun in plain view.

The city banned what is known as "open carry" of guns five years ago, making it against the city ordinance to carry a gun in a holster on a hip while walking on a sidewalk

After a legal opinion from the Kansas attorney general, city leaders revisited the issue Monday and voted 11-1 to overturn the ban.

They had to, Kansas is just like the state of Missouri, we have "open carry" as long as you have a hunting permit you can carry a firearm in the open.............

Kansas, most assuredly, is not just like the state of Missouri. ;)

This is incorrect information and will get someone in trouble. Neither state has preemption. Both are controlled by each individual cities ordinances.
