Can anyone tell me where to find oversized sabots for .45 and .50 cal. muzzleloaders.
I was told that they are out there but forgot where. The ones this guy showed me were (RED) and for the .50 cals.
Thank You for any help.

This leading outfit has different sabot sizes, but their .50's aren't red, their .54's are.

Go to the bottom of the page to read about their different sabot sizes for different bore tightnesses:

If you experience accuracy problems with our standard sabots and hot charges, the HPH Series is the sabot of choice for you.

The big difference between Black HPH12 and HPH24 is HPH24 is .002" smaller in loaded diameter. Loaded diameter is a sabot with a bullet inserted.
With a .452 diameter bullet the HPH12 is .507-.508" diameter, the HPH24 is .505"-.506" diameter. If you have a tight loading rifle you may want to choose the HPH24 or if you have a very tight rifle, consider our 3Petal-EZ.
However, if you shoot a Savage muzzleloader with smokeless powder the HPH24 may not fit tight enough to consistently ignite the smokeless powder.
The HPH12 is the stronger of the two sabots although both usually shoot very well with hot charges.
3Petal-EZ easiest loading MMP sabot.
Loaded diameter .502"-.504"

They also sell a Ballistic Bridge Sub-Base which "provides an Additional Gas Seal Cushion/protection of Sabot Base - Improved Accuracy!"

i have some 250 grain SST bullets in red .50 sabots. Not sure who they are made for. They load very hard, especially in my Encore. They also shoot sub-1.5" groups at 100 yards.

There is the Hornady Low Drag sabots in .50 that are also red. These load much easier in my Encore but are not as accurate as the tight ones.

Thank You.

Hey There, Thank You for the info. This may be what I need. My son and I both shoot Encore .50 cals. Mine is blued and shoots very tight as in holes touching at 100 meters.
His can, but not with a clean barrel. (His is SS.) When loading you can feel the bullet/sabot slip past the rifling. If I can get an oversized sabot and tighten up the gap in his gun it should start to shoot with a clean barrel.
I have tested 100s of rounds for accuracy and these Encores will produce some very impressive groups. His will shoot at 1" mine will make the holes touch. My gun must have a clean barrel to do this. I know they load harder, but am willing to live with that. We are accuracy nuts and it has paid off many times huntting. By the way Yesterday I dropped a nice 9 point with
18" plus inside spread. With the 250 gr barnes Red Hot, 80 grains of Pyrodex "P" and the Rem, 209 muzz, only primer. That bullet did just what the maker says it would and we found 100% expansion with no parts missing. My son also killed an 8 point the day before with the same load and a 300 gr bullet. The accuracy is unbeleiveable from this bullet. Thanks again.:)
