I had a well made bull barrel rifle fall into my lap. I dint know much about it, so I took it on trade. after researching I decided to take it to a friend who was in the gun business and knows his stuff!
6 months later this is what he came up with.
Action-1903-A3
scope- Lyman Super Target spot 1 1/3" - 24 3/8" , 12 power
Trigger- Timney 6061 T6 (I believe he matched from Brownelle's catalog)
Barrel- Hart Rifle Barrel Inc, N.Y.
heavy bench premium
heavy match
CAL. 22-250
1945-1950
He believes- P.O. Ackley Inc.
Salt Lake City U.T.
there are no serial # on weapon
Keep in mind before 1949ish the 22-250 was a wildcat

I am also wondering what this is worth? any info, insight or just overall piecies of the puzzle is greatly appreciated.
one further note, the guy that did the research had met Mr. Ackley, and he produced a article in the book 'Guns Illustrated 1977', pages 71-73 show this rifle, with P.O. Ackely holding it in one of the pictures.

Jerry Gebby was a Nebraska gunsmith and wildcatter in the 1930s/1940s. He copyrighted the name "Varminter" for his .22 neckdown of the .250-3000 Savage. My uncle used one his barrels and a Mauser action to build his own tack-driver, with a Weaver K-10.

Gebby was not the only one who made barrels for that cartridge; he had the copyright on the name. Remington's .22-250 has very minor differences in dimension--maybe to avoid any copyright infringement, I dunno. Not enough to matter if one considers making brass by necking down the .250-3000.
