I see a 22-250 in my near future. I am an avid handgunner and recently decided to take the rifle plunge. I have a close friend that is an accomplished long gun shooter (600+ yards) at a local 750 yard range. I recently shot his Savage 12 with the accu-trigger and heavy bull barrel and my first 3 shot 100 yard group was .388” inches. Holy Moly!!
He suggested a 1:9 twist for heavier bullets for 22-250 to stabilize 70gn projectiles for long range shooting. I am looking at the Savage 12 since it is available in 1:9. However, I am open to suggestions on other makes. I am very partial to CZ’s, but they only offer a 1:14 twist. I also want the most bang for the buck, but I also know you generally get what you pay for.
The Savage I am looking at is around $1,000.00, plus rings plus scope. Any input would be appreciated.
