I just bought a Patriot Ordinance Factory (P.O.F.) stripped lower at the gun show here in Phoenix last weekend and plan to assemble a rifle with it. Does anyone own one of their rifles or have experience buying parts from them? It's a nice piece and seems to be very well made. It has an ambidextrious bolt release feature that they have filed a patent for.

I own one of their uppers, they work pretty well, nothing to complain about it. It just went through 3 Tactical Response classes (well known for breaking gear), and had no issues with it at all.

I have two, one in .223, and the other in .308 I think it is a great rifle. Much more accurate than I am, stays clean. The rail with it's greater height is something to be area of, and they tend not to be the lightest rifles. But I was happy enough with the 223 to get the 308.

Wait, it's that accurate, and it's a gas-piston rifle? Well, that is rather impressive...

I talked to Chris at POF earlier and placed an order for the P-415-18 upper reciever for my lower. I already have a Timney trigger and all of the other parts i need to assemble it except for the ambi-bolt release which Chris said they will supply at no charge when my upper receiver is ready.Probably not going to save that much by assembling it myself, but i have a box full of AR parts my brother gave me that he had laying around gathering dust

As far as receivers go, I don't think you can really go wrong, especially lower receivers. You are pretty much buying a different stamp on the side if you "pay a little extra for a good one." BCG's, out of spec lower parts (i.e. disconnecter) and barrels is where you are going to lose accuracy and reliability.
