Well, I finally broke down and bought myself a new Sig Sauer P238 in the plain Nitron finish. I just wanted to give my initial impressions

When I got it home I stripped it and cleaned it. Everything was nicely finished and I did not find any tooling marks to speak of or any burrs for that matter. I lubed it up nicely and got it ready to go for my test outing.

For the test outing I had 100 rounds of Tula 91 grain fmj cheap plunked stuff, 75 rounds of wwb stuff I had lying around, 50 hornady defense and 50 hornady something else.

On round number 10 of the Tula ammo, I got a stovepipe. At this time I was really wondering if I had one of those lemons that everyone was talking about. That was cleared and on round 15 I had a failure to go into battery. I was really cussing at this point. I tried to give the slide a nudge and it was a no go. I pulled that round out and looked at it. Didn't really notice anything but just left it sitting on the tailgate of my pickup. By this time I was really starting to become concerned.

But.....there was no need for that because everything else cycled just fine. I think the Tula ammo is just cheap fodder and I experienced what cheap fodder does. All the hornady and the wwb functioned as expected.

I did not test absolute accuracy but it was minute of plastic bottle and coffee tin at 15 yards or so. I really enjoyed the night sites on it.

Recoil was more than manageable and I found then little P238 to be quite soft shooting.

I will return with a more in depth review and some accuracy testing for next time.

I was going to measure the one Tula round that did not go into battery but I just tossed it away before measuring.

Hope this one is a keeper.

My P238 eats the Tulammo just fine for the most part, but I'd have occasional problems with light primer strikes. I just switched to WWB and the problem went away.

I've got the same one you do, it's a fun little gun. I'm sorry for the people who got bad ones, because when these guns run right they're just plain awesome. I'll never look at an LCP or P3AT or Bodyguard because of this gun.

I had similar issues with Tula and Wolf but it ate USA made ammo with no problem.
I called Sig CS and complained a little with intentions to request a new slide spring, the flat wound one. Anyway the CS agent said they only recommend USA ammo but will have a new spring out today.

Stop with the cheap ammo and you will not have trouble. Buy a expensive gut then feed it cheap ammo . Use a better grade of ammo . Its for the pistol you know

I had the equinox model and was very accurate when it did not JAM....So I traded it for a COLT DELTA ELITE 10mm.

People are scared about mouseguns ... you have probably my NEXT mousegun of all time that I want.

Once the shooter learns how to grip the thing, they are very soft shooting.

Mind you that I only practice on handed, hurried shooting with them.

Bought the Tula ammo from the lgs. I like to keep them in business and needed something to use as 'break-in" ammo. The other option was all SD type ammo and was rather expensive. I did buy extra of my carry ammo to run through it though.

Wife bought some remington ammo as a surprise. All of it went bang without an issue. Another flawless 100 rounds down range....

Will report back after I have a chance to actually sit down on a rest and get some groups in. Free hand standing is minute of soda can at 10-15 yards without any issue at all. Still quite impressed by this little gem.
