I've owned a P320RX for a number of years and experienced something yesterday which hasn't happened in the past. I field stripped and cleaned it, and when I put it back together it had a dead trigger. I removed the slide, checked to make sure the recoil spring was in properly and put it back together with the same result. I did it a few more times before the trigger started working again. I spoke with Sig's customer service this morning and they aren't sure why it happened. I'm wondering if I did something wrong when putting it back together, and if anyone can shed some light on this.

I believe the slide stop involved in this somewhere. I've read of folks that have field stripped their P320 without locking the slide to the rear - just pulling the slide back and rotating the disassembly lever, and ending up with a dead trigger.

From the SIG P320 owner's manual...

  1. [*]Lock the slide to the rear by pulling slide rearward and pushing up on the slide catch lever.

[*]Rotate the takedown lever clockwise until it stops.

[*]Pull the slide slightly rearward to disengage the slide catch lever; keep hold of the slide assembly.

Thanks. I may have done that. If I then disassembled and then reassembled it correctly does it solve the problem, and I don't need to worry about a dead trigger going forward?
