P365 & Hellcat vs Single and Subcompacts

Not a big fan of striker fired pistols, only own one a Kahr P9 and it stays at home as I prefer a Colt Agent over it for carry.
I especially have no faith in safe action triggers, my motto is "never own a gun with a springy thingy in the trigger".
This is all due to being an old 1911 user which is my preferred platform.
That being said the P365 has some appeal to me as it is available with a safety which, to me, is a desirable feature.

Was gonna wait until summer but Brownells has the Hellcat today for 455 with 11% discount code so thought what the heck. It’s not in stock, only a preorder, but I don’t need immediately anyway. We’ll see. So far all reviews really good except for The Yankee Marshall who can’t forgive

Have Two(2) carry pistols:

For general CCW/IWB: 6+1 Glock slimline G36 .45 ACP +P/ 230 gr.

For deep concealment/IWB: 6+1 SigSauer P938 9mm/ 147 gr.

And have no plans to change any time soon.

The only thing that would tempt, would be to convert to a single pistol.

...and that would be a Glock G48, chambered in .40/ 180 gr.

Not holding breath.

Since it's less than a month old I'm going to comment here rather than start a new thread.

I've had a P365 for about 8 months and just recently handled a Hellcat. I believe the Hellcat would work better for larger hands.
Understand I have not shot one so may be mistaken

In explanation the P363 feels a little skinny in the grip and my normal thumbs forward grip had to be modified with both hands. I have to splay my dominant thumb up and out (Hickok45 Style) to avoid riding the slide stop (and failing to lock back on final round) and crook my off hand thumb so only the pad and thumb tip make contact in order to avoid contacting the slide stop from below causing premature lockbacks. I also have to do this to make sure my offhand thumb stays far enough back from the muzzle I'm not in danger of degloving the tip.

To illustrate my handsize, with the modified grip I entirely englobe the grip including the base of the flush magazine and the front of the trigger guard (offhand) and have to make sure I stay in the middle of the pad on my trigger finger in order to avoid dragging my offhand.

The Hellcat grip fills my hand better and the slide lock being farther rearward allows me to only to have to modify the dominant hand grip. No worry about offhand contact with the slidestop and the more hand filling grip reduces concerns with degloving my offhand fingertip allowing me to keep the thumb straight. It also feels like it won't cut into the center of the palm of my hand like the rear corner of the P365 Flush Baseplate does to my dominant hand.

I know it sounds strange but it's the only way I could get ahold of the gun and get 2.5 fingers on it and and adequate support grip.

PS On a G19 G4 I end up with my fingers directly on the points between finger groves. The G17 on the hand appears to have been modeled after my hand.

These were my feeling on the Sig 365 when I shot the Sig along with 4 others. We ran a 1,000 rds through the gun. The pistol had too narrow a grip to the receiver for some of us to get a good handle on the pistol, and not ride the slide. In fact we warned all shooters each time they were ready to shoot the gun to be careful too not ride the slide. We had 6 failures which we contributed to user error. This has nothing to do with the quality of the gun. It was a very nice shooter and nice quality. And I think by just comparing the Hellcat to the Sig, you can visually see that there is more real estate for the off hands. I personally like the fact that the Hellcat does not have the bulky take down lever or slide lock. They are recessed in much better so as not to be interfered with while shooting.
I would say if you do have a size large hand to at least test fire the pistol to be sure it is a good fit. Or be ready to learn to adjust your grip to accommodate the size of the pistol in relation to the receiver and grip narrow space.
